Carers Link Academy Accessibility Statement

1. Our commitment to accessibility

Carers Link is committed to making Carers Link Academy as accessible and inclusive as reasonably possible.

We want people to be able to use the Academy regardless of disability, impairment, assistive technology, device or method of accessing the internet.

We aim to design and maintain Carers Link Academy in a way that supports clear navigation, readable content, keyboard access, accessible learning materials and compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies.

We recognise that some parts of the Academy may not yet be fully accessible, and we are committed to identifying and improving accessibility barriers where reasonably possible.

2. How accessible Carers Link Academy is

Carers Link Academy is built using Moodle, a widely used learning platform that includes accessibility features designed to support different ways of accessing content.

We aim to make the Academy easy to use by:

• using clear headings and page structure;

• maintaining good colour contrast and readable text;

• supporting keyboard navigation where possible;

• providing descriptive link text;

• using accessible document formats where practical;

• providing captions, transcripts or alternative formats for learning content where these are available; and

• avoiding unnecessary visual or interactive barriers.

We regularly review the Academy and its learning materials as new content is added.

3. Known accessibility limitations

While we aim to make Carers Link Academy accessible, some content may not yet meet every accessibility requirement.

Possible limitations may include:

• some PDF documents that were originally created for print rather than digital accessibility;

• video content where captions or transcripts are not yet available;

• third-party content or embedded services whose accessibility is partly outside Carers Link’s control; and

• older learning resources that may need further accessibility improvements.

We are working to identify and address these issues as the Academy develops.

If you experience an accessibility barrier, please contact us so that we can consider an alternative format or other reasonable way of providing the information.

4. Accessibility feedback and support

If you have difficulty accessing any part of Carers Link Academy, or if you need information in a different format, please contact Carers Link.

We will do our best to understand the issue and provide a reasonable alternative where possible.

5. How we review accessibility

Carers Link will review the accessibility of Carers Link Academy as the platform and its learning content develop.

This may include:

• checking new pages and learning materials for accessibility issues;

• reviewing colour contrast, headings, links and navigation;

• checking documents and multimedia content for accessibility;

• testing important parts of the Academy using keyboard navigation and other accessibility features;

• responding to accessibility issues reported by learners; and

• making reasonable improvements where barriers are identified.

Accessibility will be considered when new courses, resources and features are added to Carers Link Academy.

6. Accessibility standards

Carers Link aims to follow recognised good practice for digital accessibility, including the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA where reasonably achievable.

These guidelines cover areas such as:

• providing text alternatives for non-text content;

• ensuring sufficient colour contrast;

• making content usable with a keyboard;

• using clear headings and meaningful link text;

• making content understandable and predictable; and

• supporting compatibility with assistive technologies.

Carers Link Academy is still developing, and we will use these standards to guide future improvements to the platform and its learning materials.

7. Preparation and review of this statement

This Accessibility Statement was prepared in September 2026.

Carers Link will review this statement periodically and when significant changes are made to Carers Link Academy or its learning content.

The statement will be updated when accessibility issues are identified, improvements are made, or relevant accessibility guidance changes.
